Ten sequenced levels, FYP through Grade 8
Every level below is a complete academic year in each core subject. Children commonly sit at different levels in different subjects — that is expected, and you can set each one independently.
Early Years
Early Years levels
Short, play-led sessions. The goal is phonemic awareness, early number sense and the habit of sitting down to work at all.
FYP
Ages 3–4Foundation Year Programme
The gentle first year of structured learning. FYP builds pencil control, letter sounds, counting to 20 and the listening habits every later grade depends on — in 20-minute bursts of play.
KG
Ages 4–5Kindergarten
Kindergarten is where reading clicks. Children blend their first words, count and compare to 100, and start writing sentences — with Oxford-style storybooks doing the heavy lifting.
Lower Primary
Lower Primary levels
The years that decide everything after them: fluent decoding, automatic number facts and finishing a piece of work from start to end.
Grade 1
Ages 5–6Grade 1 · Year 1
The first full academic year. Grade 1 locks in fluent decoding, addition and subtraction within 100, and the routine of finishing a piece of work from start to end.
Grade 2
Ages 6–7Grade 2 · Year 2
Grade 2 turns skills into speed. Number bonds become mental maths, sentences become paragraphs, and children begin reading to learn rather than learning to read.
Grade 3
Ages 7–8Grade 3 · Year 3
Multiplication, division and multi-step problems arrive. Grade 3 also introduces research skills: finding a fact, checking it, and writing it up in your own words.
Upper Primary
Upper Primary levels
Written methods become fluent and writing stretches to structured multi-paragraph pieces.
Grade 4
Ages 8–9Grade 4 · Year 4
Grade 4 is the fluency year. Long multiplication, fractions and decimals get automatic, and writing stretches to structured essays with an introduction and a conclusion.
Grade 5
Ages 9–10Grade 5 · Year 5
Abstract thinking takes hold. Grade 5 covers percentages, ratio, area and volume, plus science units on Earth and space that reward genuine curiosity.
Middle Years
Middle Years levels
Secondary-style study: algebra, analysis, referencing and working to a clock.
Grade 6
Ages 10–11Grade 6 · Year 6
The bridge year. Grade 6 consolidates primary maths, introduces algebraic thinking, and teaches children to read a novel closely enough to argue about it.
Grade 7
Ages 11–12Grade 7 · Year 7
Secondary-style study begins. Grade 7 moves into pre-algebra, integrated science with real investigations, and note-taking that actually helps at revision time.
Grade 8
Ages 12–13Grade 8 · Year 8
Grade 8 sets up the exam years. Algebra foundations, data handling and academic writing are taught the way IGCSE and high-school courses will expect them.
