The hardest habit to break at this age is retelling the plot when asked to analyse. Children know what happened; they have never been shown how to write about why the author made it happen that way.

This course tackles it with a single, repeated exercise: take one word from the text and write eighty words about that word alone. It feels absurd in week one and produces genuinely insightful paragraphs by week twelve.
